Sunset Town Phu Quoc: What to Do Beyond Kiss Bridge

Sunset Town Phu Quoc is one of the most recognizable places in southern Phu Quoc, but it works best when you treat it as a whole area, not just a quick stop for Kiss Bridge.

If you are thinking about staying in this area, I also wrote a practical Hillside Sky review with details about the rooftop pool, sea views, daily life in Sunset Town and who this stay is best for.

The district is built in a Mediterranean-inspired style, with stone streets, arches, fountains, mosaics, sculptures, hillside buildings, sea views and small corners that make the walk itself part of the experience. It is not a natural old town, and it does feel designed, but that is also part of the point: Sunset Town is made for walking, photos, evening shows and slow wandering before or after another stop in the south of the island.

Most people come here for Kiss Bridge or the Hon Thom cable car. But if you have more time, Sunset Town can easily become a half-day or evening plan.

What is Sunset Town Phu Quoc?

Sunset Town is a large seaside district in the south of Phu Quoc, close to the Hon Thom cable car station and not far from Khem Beach. It is one of the main developed tourist areas on this side of the island, with viewpoints, cafes, restaurants, show venues, walking streets and several attractions around the waterfront.

The style is European and Mediterranean-inspired: warm-colored buildings, stairs, arches, balconies, fountains and sea-facing streets. Some people may find it too staged, but if you enjoy architecture, photo spots and atmospheric evening walks, it can be a very easy place to spend a few hours.

The key is not to rush through it only for one photo. Sunset Town works better when you walk around, look into side streets, stop for coffee, check what is open that day and stay long enough to see how the area changes after sunset.

What to do in Sunset Town beyond Kiss Bridge

Kiss Bridge is the most famous attraction here, but it is not the only reason to visit Sunset Town.

You can walk around the district, take photos of the architecture, stop at cafes, visit small shops or spas, check out Vui Fest Bazaar and stay into the evening for the shows and night atmosphere. Some parts of Sunset Town are open for general access, and several activities in the area may be free, depending on the current schedule.

Places and experiences to look out for include:

Schedules and access rules can change, so it is worth checking what is available on the day you go.

Best time to visit Sunset Town

Sunset Town Phu Quoc feels different depending on the time of day.

In daylight, it is better for architecture, photos, coffee stops and taking the Hon Thom cable car. The streets are easier to explore, and you can see more details in the buildings, fountains, mosaics and sea views. If your goal is photography or a quiet walk, daytime or late afternoon works well.

In the evening, the area becomes much livelier. This is when Sunset Town feels more like an entertainment district, especially around the waterfront and show areas. Symphony of the Sea is usually listed around 7:45 PM near the Kiss Bridge area, while Kiss of the Sea is often scheduled later in the evening, around 9:00 PM. But these shows can be ticketed, seasonal or schedule-dependent, so always check the latest timing before planning your evening around them.

My practical advice: come before sunset if you want to walk, take photos and understand the area. Stay into the evening if you want atmosphere, lights and shows.

How to combine Sunset Town with Khem Beach

One of the easiest ways to use Sunset Town in a Phu Quoc route is to combine it with Khem Beach.

Khem Beach is nearby, so the area works well as a full day plan: beach first, then Sunset Town in the late afternoon or evening. This is especially useful if you do not want to travel back and forth across the island several times.

There is also a free shuttle bus between Bai Kem and Sunset Town, with sources listing service roughly every 60 minutes from 8:30 to 21:30. This makes it easier to start with the beach and finish with an evening walk, dinner or a show in Sunset Town. Still, check the latest shuttle schedule before relying on it, because transport timings can change.

A simple route could look like this:

Morning or afternoon: Khem Beach
Late afternoon: coffee or walk in Sunset Town
Sunset: waterfront and photo spots
Evening: Vui Fest Bazaar, dinner or a show

This way, Sunset Town becomes part of a bigger South Phu Quoc plan, not just a separate attraction.

Is Sunset Town worth visiting?

Sunset Town Phu Quoc is worth visiting if you enjoy designed travel areas, architecture, sea views, photo spots and evening atmosphere. It is especially useful if you are already staying in the south of Phu Quoc or planning to visit Khem Beach, Kiss Bridge or the Hon Thom cable car.

I would not treat it as the most authentic place on the island. It is not a local fishing village or a natural old town. It is a built tourist district, and you should understand that before you go.

But as a practical travel stop, it works well. You can walk in the shade of buildings, take photos, stop for coffee, explore small corners, check what events are happening and stay for the evening atmosphere. If you combine it with Khem Beach or the cable car, it becomes much more useful than visiting only for one quick photo.

Practical tips for visiting Sunset Town

Check the current show schedule before you go, especially if you want to see Kiss of the Sea or Symphony of the Sea.

Come before sunset if you want photos, architecture and a calmer walk.

Stay into the evening if you want lights, shows, Vui Fest Bazaar and a more lively atmosphere.

Combine Sunset Town with Khem Beach if you want a fuller day plan in South Phu Quoc.

Do not expect a natural old Mediterranean town. Sunset Town is a designed tourist area, but it can still be enjoyable if you use it the right way.

My honest take

Sunset Town is not just Kiss Bridge. It works best as a walking area, evening stop and South Phu Quoc route add-on.

I would not rush there for one photo and leave. The area makes more sense if you give it time: walk through the streets, notice the details, stop somewhere, check the waterfront and stay long enough to see the atmosphere change.

For me, the best way to visit Sunset Town is simple: combine it with Khem Beach, arrive before sunset, walk around without rushing, and decide on the spot whether you want to stay for a show.
