Hon Thom Cable Car Phu Quoc is worth doing for the journey itself. For roughly 15 minutes, you travel above the An Thoi islands, fishing boats and turquoise water on a nearly 8 km route. But the ticket buys more than the view: standard admission also includes the Aquatopia water park and Exotica attractions on Hon Thom. The real decision is whether to spend a few hours on the island or turn it into an entire day.

Which Hon Thom ticket should you book?
This is where a little planning saves you from buying the wrong package. The main difference is not the cable car—it’s what you want to do with the rest of the day.
Option 1 — Go independently: cable car + Sun World admission. Choose this if you want the sea views, the beach, Aquatopia or Exotica at your own pace. Check the exact inclusions and redemption instructions: entry-ticket listings can have several variants and different meeting arrangements. Option 2 — Add lunch. Sun World sells a cable car + Mango buffet package. It makes sense if you will use the water park and stay through lunchtime; otherwise, the standard ticket is more flexible. The buffet is not automatically part of every entry ticket.
Option 3 — Make it a boat-and-cable-car day. Want to see the islands from above and get onto the water? The GetYourGuide cable car + three-island boat tour with lunch is a different product from standard Sun World entry. Check the actual island stops, hotel pickup zone, swimming time and what is included before booking. It is a packed day; if your main goal is several hours at Aquatopia, go independently instead.
My choice by travel style: Independent entry for an unhurried beach/water-park day. A guided combination if you have limited time on Phu Quoc and genuinely want island hopping as well. Don’t pay for the longer tour just because it includes more things on paper.

The operator’s published 2026 ticket schedule lists these standard prices. They are reference tariffs, not guaranteed checkout prices: online offers and dated packages may differ.

Sun World’s own website was also displaying an online promotion from VND 825,000 for standard return tickets when checked in October 2026. Treat the final price on your travel date as authoritative. Check whether the selected vendor requires you to exchange a voucher at the station.
The standard ticket does not normally include your journey to Anh Duong Station, meals, premium beach activities, Kiss Bridge or an evening show in Sunset Town. A package sold by a separate tour operator may include additional services, so read its inclusions rather than assuming all Hon Thom products are identical.
The timetable matters more than the park opening time
Sun World’s 9 October 2026 guidance lists cable-car operation in two windows: 09:30–11:30 and 13:30–17:00. Other official operator pages published earlier in 2026 show different afternoon segments and closing times. That is why you should check the specific day’s cable-car schedule, not rely on a single general opening-hours label or an old screenshot.
For an easy visit, aim for the first morning departures. You will have more time for Aquatopia, beach breaks and lunch, and you are less likely to rush the return. Afternoon light can be beautiful, but it is a poor trade if you arrive during a service break or leave too little time before the last cabin.
Important: Keep enough margin for the return queue. Strong wind, maintenance or operational changes can alter the schedule.
What the ride is actually like
The length is hard to appreciate until the cabin clears the coast. The water stretches out beneath you, the An Thoi islands appear at different distances, and fishing boats become tiny details against the sea. From the cabin you also notice the scale of the towers and the green coast of Hon Thom approaching ahead.
The three-rope line measures 7,899.9 metres, a Guinness World Records record for the longest non-stop three-rope cable car. The route opened in February 2018. One-way travel is typically around 15 minutes, excluding queues.
For photographs, start by looking out over the An Thoi archipelago as the cabin leaves the mainland. The view changes with your direction of travel, the light and where other passengers stand, so I wouldn’t promise that one fixed seat always delivers the best shot. Keep your camera ready on both journeys.
If you’re nervous about heights, be aware that parts of the route pass high above open water. These are enclosed cabins rather than open chairlifts, but the height is still very noticeable. Anyone seeking only secluded beaches and small local villages may prefer a different outing: Hon Thom is a substantial tourist complex.
What to do on Hon Thom Island
Aquatopia Water Park. Slides, family areas and pools can easily take several hours. Check current ride operations and height restrictions if you’re going with children. Changing rooms and other practical facilities may have additional rules or charges.
Exotica Park. The island also has thrill and observation attractions. Not every ride necessarily runs all day, so if one is your reason for visiting, check its status first.
Beach time. You can take the day at a slower pace: swim when conditions allow, sit by the water, have a drink and enjoy the coastal views. The beach areas are part of a managed resort-style attraction rather than an empty island.
Lunch. Food outlets operate on Hon Thom, including Mango buffet arrangements. Decide whether a prepaid buffet helps your schedule; don’t assume it is the only way to eat or that drinks and extras are included.
Snorkeling and boat trips. These generally require a separate tour or add-on. A cable-car ticket by itself does not turn your visit into a guided snorkeling excursion. Getting to the cable car station
The mainland departure point is Anh Duong Station (Ga Ánh Dương) in the Sunset Town / An Thoi area of southern Phu Quoc. It is not a cable-car station at the airport or in central Duong Dong.
From Duong Dong or the Long Beach area, allow enough time for a taxi or prearranged transfer, plus ticket redemption and the queue. Travel times vary substantially by the exact hotel and traffic. If you are staying in Sunset Town, you may be able to walk to the station, depending on your building and the area’s hills.

A realistic day: Hon Thom + Sunset Town
Morning: Reach the station for the first operating window, ride over the islands and enjoy the best of your chosen activities on Hon Thom.
Midday: Lunch on the island or a break between water-park sessions. Give the main attractions the time you actually want, rather than racing through a checklist.
Afternoon: Return by cable car with plenty of time before the last departure. If you have energy left, explore Sunset Town’s architecture, cafés and waterfront.
Evening: Choose one extra experience, such as the Kiss of the Sea show, rather than assuming every evening show is included with your cable-car ticket. Check the show calendar and exact ticket before making plans.
If your booking includes a guided boat trip, expect a longer and more structured day. Don’t combine a full island-hopping package with an ambitious schedule at Aquatopia and two evening shows.
Is Hon Thom Cable Car Phu Quoc worth the money?
Yes, for the panoramic ride and a day built around the attractions that are already included. Few places on Phu Quoc give you this view of the An Thoi archipelago, and the length of the ride makes it an experience rather than a quick transfer.
The value changes by traveler. If you love water parks or want a relaxed beach day with one spectacular arrival, standard entry may be enough. If you are mainly interested in coral, island beaches and time on a boat, a dedicated snorkeling tour can be a better use of your day. If you dislike busy, highly developed attractions, Hon Thom may not be the Phu Quoc you came to find.
Before paying, check the weather, the day’s cable-car service windows, the exact package inclusions and your return plan. Those four things matter more than chasing a small difference in the advertised ticket price.
