KingKong Mart Phu Quoc, Vietnam: What to Buy & Which Store to Visit

KingKong Mart is one of the most useful supermarkets on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam, if you want to buy groceries, Vietnamese products, Phu Quoc souvenirs and everyday travel essentials in one stop.

If you are visiting only one branch, the large store on Tran Hung Dao is the most useful for a full shopping run. But KingKong now has smaller locations too, including a branch in the Sonasea / Bai Truong area, so you may not need to travel into central Duong Dong at all.

I used KingKong as a practical stop rather than an attraction. One evening in Duong Dong, for example, it was an easy place to finish the day with wine and sweets after walking around town.

The main KingKong at 141A Tran Hung Dao is the obvious choice when you want to do a proper supermarket run. As of September 2026, Phu Quoc tourism information lists this location from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The 108 Bach Dang location is useful if you are already around central Duong Dong and the Night Market. Current tourism information lists this branch from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Opening hours can change, so check the current listing before making a special trip.

The smaller Sonasea / Bai Truong option is more useful for convenience than for maximum choice. If you are staying around Long Beach, Sonasea or nearby resort areas, check this branch before spending time going into central Duong Dong.

Which KingKong Mart Should You Visit?

Staying in Duong Dong or Central Long Beach?

Go to the main Tran Hung Dao store if you want groceries, drinks, local products, souvenirs and travel basics in one visit.

This is the KingKong that makes the most sense for a larger shopping run.

Staying Around Sonasea, Bai Truong or the Marina Area?

Try the Sonasea / Bai Truong branch first.

For drinks, snacks, simple groceries or a few gifts, there is little point taking a longer trip into town if the smaller branch already has what you need.

Just expect a more limited range than at the main store.

Staying in Sunset Town or Southern Phu Quoc?

I would not travel north only for KingKong.

If you are based in the south, combine the supermarket with a Duong Dong, Long Beach or Night Market day.

Staying Around Grand World or the Northern Resorts?

The same logic applies.

KingKong is useful when you are already heading toward central Phu Quoc, but it is not worth crossing most of the island for two or three small purchases.

Where to Stay on Phu Quoc for Everyday Convenience

Where you stay changes how useful KingKong, supermarkets and other everyday services will be.

Duong Dong and central Long Beach are the easiest choices if you care about restaurants, cafes, markets, supermarkets and central transport. The main KingKong fits naturally into an ordinary day instead of becoming a separate journey.

Sonasea, Bai Truong and the Marina area give you more of a beach and resort environment while still keeping restaurants and everyday services reasonably accessible. The smaller KingKong branch adds another practical option here.

Sunset Town and the south make more sense if your priorities are Hon Thom, Kiss Bridge, Khem Beach and Sunset Town’s evening attractions.

Grand World and the north work better for northern resorts, VinWonders, Safari and Grand World than for frequent trips into central Duong Dong.

What to Buy at KingKong Mart Phu Quoc

KingKong works best when you need several completely different things at once.

Everyday Groceries

For a longer Phu Quoc stay, the practical side of the store matters most.

You can pick up bread, dairy products, cheese, snacks, drinks, noodles, rice, sauces and other everyday basics without trying several smaller shops.

For a proper grocery run, I would choose the main Tran Hung Dao store rather than one of the smaller branches.

Vietnamese Coffee and Packaged Food

Vietnamese coffee is one of the easiest things to take home.

Look for ground coffee, whole beans and especially drip coffee packs if you want something light and simple to pack.

You can also browse packaged snacks, sweets, sauces, dried products and other Vietnamese pantry items.

Phu Quoc Pepper

Pepper is one of the most obvious products to bring home from the island.

Black, white and red Phu Quoc pepper are easy to pack and work well as small gifts.

Sauces and Local Products

Phu Quoc is also known for fish sauce, alongside Vietnamese chili sauces, soy sauce and other condiments.

For anything liquid, check your airline’s luggage rules and make sure the packaging is suitable for travel.

Coffee, pepper, sweets and dry packaged products are much easier if you want zero hassle.

Souvenirs

KingKong is useful when the end of the trip arrives and you suddenly remember that you still need gifts for several people.

You can combine food gifts with magnets, hats and other small souvenirs without making another separate shopping trip.

Things You Forgot

The less exciting part of KingKong can be the most useful.

Toiletries, sunscreen, personal-care products, beach basics, bags and everyday travel items can save you time during a longer stay.

The larger store also carries clothing and luggage, useful if you unexpectedly need another bag or suitcase before flying home.

What Should You Actually Buy at KingKong as Gifts?

If I wanted to keep it simple, I would choose:

• Phu Quoc pepper for something genuinely connected to the island.
• Vietnamese coffee or drip bags because they are inexpensive and easy to pack.
• Packaged sweets and snacks for casual gifts.
• Sauces or dry Vietnamese cooking products for someone who cooks.
• Ready-made gift packs when presentation matters more than choosing every item separately.

KingKong’s advantage is not that every item is unique. It is that you can finish most of your gift shopping in one place.

Is KingKong Mart Cheaper Than Local Markets?

I would not choose KingKong because I expected it to have the absolute lowest prices on Phu Quoc.

Its advantage is convenience: one place for groceries, packaged Vietnamese products, imported food, souvenirs and travel essentials.

A local market may make more sense for fresh produce, atmosphere or simply because you enjoy market shopping.

They serve different purposes.

If you want to plan KingKong together with sightseeing rather than making a separate supermarket trip, you can also work it into a broader Phu Quoc itinerary.

How to Get to KingKong Mart Without a Scooter

You do not need to rent a scooter just to shop at KingKong.

Taxi or ride-hailing is the simplest option if you are not within walking distance.

Public transport can also work depending on your starting point, but Phu Quoc bus routes and fare conditions change, so I would check current VinBus information rather than relying on an old route number or an old claim that a particular bus is free.

If you are still fixing your dates, compare the flight first and then decide which part of the island makes the most sense as a base.

Is KingKong Mart Phu Quoc Worth Visiting?

Yes, if you need a proper grocery run, are staying on Phu Quoc for more than a few days, or want to buy several Vietnamese and Phu Quoc gifts without visiting multiple shops.

I would also use it near the end of a trip if I still needed coffee, pepper, sweets or small presents.

I would not cross the entire island just for a few snacks or a fridge magnet.

For a full shopping run, use the main Tran Hung Dao store. For everyday convenience, use whichever smaller branch fits where you are staying.

Bottom Line

KingKong Mart is useful because it combines groceries, Vietnamese products, Phu Quoc specialties, souvenirs and practical travel items in one place.

For the widest practical shopping choice, go to the main Tran Hung Dao store. If you are staying around Sonasea or Bai Truong, check the closer branch first. If you are based in Sunset Town, Grand World or another distant part of Phu Quoc, combine KingKong with a day you were already planning in the center.

It is not a Phu Quoc attraction. It is simply one of those places that can make a trip considerably easier.
