Phu Quoc Airport to Hotel: Taxi, Grab, Bus or Private Transfer? (2026)
Getting from Phu Quoc airport to your hotel is usually easy, but the best option depends on three things most guides skip: where on the island you are staying, what time you land and how much luggage you have. The airport is in the south-west of the island, so Long Beach and Sunset Town are a short ride away, while resorts in the far north are around 45 minutes by car. A ride that costs very little to Duong Dong can cost several times more to Ganh Dau, and a cheap bus that suits a solo traveller at midday is the wrong choice for a family landing at midnight.
This guide compares taxis, Grab, the VinBus, motorbike taxis and pre-booked transfers, with typical times and fares to each part of the island, so you can choose before you land.

Phu Quoc Airport to Hotel: Quick Answer
| Destination | Approx. drive | Typical taxi / Grab fare (car) | Usually best option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long Beach (Bai Truong), Phu Quoc Marina, Sonasea | 10–20 min | ~100,000–220,000 VND | Grab or taxi |
| Duong Dong town | 15–25 min | ~120,000–200,000 VND | Grab or taxi; VinBus 17 if travelling light |
| Sunset Town, An Thoi | 20–30 min | ~250,000–350,000 VND | Grab or taxi; transfer for late arrivals |
| Khem Beach, Sao Beach | 25–35 min | ~250,000–400,000 VND | Hotel transfer or pre-booked transfer |
| Ong Lang | 30–40 min | ~300,000–450,000 VND | Grab, taxi or pre-booked transfer |
| North: Bai Dai, Ganh Dau (Grand World, VinWonders, Safari) | 40–50 min | ~450,000–650,000 VND | Pre-booked transfer, taxi or VinBus 17 to Grand World |
Fares are rough estimates for a standard car and change with demand, vehicle size and time of day. Check the price in the app or agree it before you set off.
Before You Land: Two Things to Sort Out
Mobile data. Grab and Xanh SM need an internet connection, and the airport Wi-Fi is not always reliable. Setting up an eSIM before you fly lets you book a ride as soon as you clear immigration, check your hotel location and message your driver. You can compare Vietnam plans from Yesim or Trip.com eSIM. SIM counters in the arrivals hall are a backup if you prefer a local SIM.
Your entry documents. Immigration at Phu Quoc usually takes around half an hour on a normal day, longer when several international flights land together. Our Phu Quoc visa guide explains which entry option applies to you and what to have ready.
A practical note for 2026: a second runway and a new terminal are being built ahead of APEC 2027, so allow a little extra time and follow signs carefully around the construction areas.
Option 1: Grab and Xanh SM
Best for: most travellers heading to Duong Dong, Long Beach, the Marina or Sunset Town.
Grab works on Phu Quoc and is usually the easiest way to get a fair price, because you see the fare before you confirm. Xanh SM, the electric taxi service, also offers app booking with an upfront price. Grab fares to Duong Dong are typically around 120,000–200,000 VND for a car, and GrabBike is roughly half that if you travel with only a small bag.
Ride-hailing pickups are generally not right at the terminal door; you may need to walk a short distance to the designated pickup area, so check the pin and the instructions in the app. Drivers are plentiful at the airport and in central areas, but fewer in the far north or around quiet resorts, especially late at night.

Skip it if your phone is not set up for data, or you are arriving very late with children and do not want to deal with apps.
Option 2: Metered Taxis
Best for: travellers without data, and anyone who prefers the simplicity of a taxi rank.
Metered taxis wait outside the terminal. Established companies such as Mai Linh and Vinasun are generally reliable, and a ride to Duong Dong typically costs around 120,000–200,000 VND, sometimes with a small airport surcharge. Taxis can cost a little more than Grab for the same trip.
To avoid misunderstandings, use a marked taxi from the official rank, check that the meter is running, and have your hotel’s address ready in Vietnamese or on a map. Politely decline drivers or touts in the arrivals hall offering fixed prices that seem high; the official options are usually cheaper.
Skip it if you are travelling to a remote resort late at night and would rather know the full price in advance.
Option 3: VinBus
Best for: budget travellers with light luggage staying on the route.
The VinBus electric buses are the cheapest way out of the airport. Route 17 runs from the airport through Duong Dong and along part of Long Beach to Grand World in the north, with frequent departures from early morning until late at night; the full route takes around an hour. Route 19 links the InterContinental area on southern Long Beach with Grand World via the airport, with fewer departures. Fares are low, around 20,000–50,000 VND depending on distance at the time of writing.
Some resorts in the Bai Dai area run shuttles from Grand World, the last stop of route 17, which can make the bus a workable option for northern hotels. Check with your hotel first.

Skip it if you have large suitcases, are travelling with young children, or are staying in Sunset Town, Khem or Ong Lang, which are off the main bus routes.
Option 4: Motorbike Taxi (Xe Om)
Best for: solo travellers with a backpack or small bag.
A motorbike taxi can be an inexpensive option for solo travellers with a small bag, especially when booked through GrabBike, which shows the price upfront. It is not practical with a suitcase, and it is less comfortable after a long flight, in the heat or in the rain.
Option 5: Pre-Booked Airport Transfer
Best for: late arrivals, families, groups, large luggage and resorts outside the main areas.
A pre-booked transfer means a driver meets you after arrivals and takes you straight to your hotel at a price you agreed before travel. It is most useful when:
- you land late at night, when you may not want to deal with apps or negotiate;
- you are travelling with children, car seats, a pram or a lot of luggage;
- you are staying in the north, at Khem or Sao, in Ong Lang or at a resort where taxis are scarce;
- you are a group and need a larger vehicle.
You can compare Phu Quoc airport transfers on Trip.com and check vehicle size, luggage allowance, the meeting point and what happens if your flight is delayed. Policies differ between providers, so read the details for the specific transfer you choose. If you need a child seat, confirm in writing that it will be provided.
Option 6: Hotel Transfer
Many resorts, particularly in the north, at Khem Beach and on southern Long Beach, offer their own airport transfers, sometimes included in the room rate and sometimes at an extra charge. Check your booking confirmation or message the hotel before you travel. If your hotel offers a transfer at a price that suits you, it is often the simplest choice; if not, compare it with Grab and a pre-booked transfer.

Which Option Is Right for You?
| If you are… | Choose |
|---|---|
| Arriving in the daytime with data, staying in town, Long Beach or Sunset Town | Grab or Xanh SM |
| Arriving without data | Metered taxi from the official rank |
| On a tight budget with light luggage, staying on the route | VinBus 17 |
| Travelling solo with a small bag | GrabBike |
| Landing late, with children, lots of luggage or a remote hotel | Pre-booked or hotel transfer |
| Staying in the north for the theme parks | Pre-booked transfer or taxi; VinBus 17 plus a resort shuttle if your hotel offers one |
Leaving Phu Quoc: Getting Back to the Airport
On your way out, Grab and taxis work the same way, and most hotels can call a taxi for you. Allow extra time if you are coming from the north, and book your ride the evening before for early-morning flights from remote areas, when fewer drivers are available. If you are flying internationally, aim to arrive around two to three hours before departure, especially while construction work is ongoing at the airport. Your hotel can also arrange a transfer, or you can book one in advance on Trip.com.
Where to Stay for an Easy Arrival
If you want the shortest airport ride, stay on southern Long Beach, around Phu Quoc Marina and Sonasea, or in Sunset Town. Duong Dong is also close. The north is the furthest, which is worth knowing if you arrive late or leave early. Our guide on where to stay in Phu Quoc compares the areas in detail, and once you have chosen, you can compare hotels in that area on Trip.com.

Final Verdict
For most travellers arriving in daylight and staying in Duong Dong, on Long Beach or in Sunset Town, Grab or a metered taxi is quick and good value. If you are on a budget with light luggage, VinBus 17 gets you to town or Grand World for very little. If you land late, travel with children or are heading to a resort in the north, at Khem or in Ong Lang, a pre-booked or hotel transfer is worth paying for, because it removes the one part of the journey you have least energy for.
