Where to Eat in Bang Tao, Phuket: Restaurants, Cafés & Beach Clubs

Choosing where to eat in Bang Tao depends on how you want to spend the evening. Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket put cafés and restaurants within an easy walking area; Cherng Talay has Thai kitchens and chef-led dinners, while the coast and Layan add beachfront tables. At beach clubs, compare the daybed price with the food-and-drink credit before booking.

If you have one evening to decide where to eat in Bang Tao, start around Boat Avenue, where several restaurants sit close together. For a Thai dinner, consider SUAY for contemporary dishes or Nitan for a reservation-only tasting menu; Chernglay Kitchen serves casual seafood. For a pool day, compare XANA, Catch, Carpe Diem and RAVA before booking a bed.

Location matters: Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket are adjacent, near the Laguna entrance; cafés on Lagoon Road are nearby. Si Sunthon Road, the beachfront and Layan are separate taxi journeys. My Bang Tao Beach Phuket guide explains the districts and which areas are genuinely walkable.

Best cafés for breakfast and coffee

BARTELS Bang Tao — for sourdough sandwiches

Where: Lagoon Road, near Boat Avenue. Opens: 7 am daily.

BARTELS bakes sourdough throughout the day and builds its menu around it: grilled and open sandwiches, breakfast plates, juices and coffee. Go before setting out for a full breakfast, or pick up a sandwich to take back to your apartment or villa.

Expect Western café prices and an inland setting; its draw is the sourdough menu, not a sea view.

Holey Artisan Bakery — for pastries at Porto de Phuket

Where: Mercado Hall, Porto de Phuket. Hours: 7 am–9 pm daily, according to the bakery.

Holey specialises in long-fermented sourdough, laminated pastries and made-to-order sandwiches. The bakery counter suits a coffee and pastry before Porto’s shops, or a loaf to take back if your accommodation has a kitchen.

The branch is inside an inland shopping centre, so it suits a quick breakfast or takeaway rather than a seaside meal.

BAKE Phuket — for coffee, bread and an all-day menu

Where: Lagoon Road, at the Laguna entrance. Hours: from 7 am daily.

BAKE roasts coffee on site and serves breakfast through dinner, with pastries, rotisserie chicken and pizza. For an actual price reference, its online menu lists baked eggs at THB 310 and an avocado breakfast at THB 390.

The shaded courtyard works for a sit-down catch-up; this is a café stop, not a low-cost Thai breakfast.

Best restaurants in Bang Tao and Cherng Talay

Tu Kab Khao, Porto de Phuket — Phuket cooking without a trip to Old Town

Where: Porto de Phuket, Bandon–Cherng Talay Road. Hours: typically 11 am–9 pm.

This is the Bang Tao branch of a restaurant known for Phuket and Southern Thai cooking. Order several dishes to share: the appeal lies in regional curries, local herbs and seafood rather than individual Western-style mains. The Porto branch works when your group wants a sit-down Thai dinner near Laguna without travelling to Phuket Town.

This is the Porto shopping-centre branch, not the much-photographed historic building in Phuket Town. Ask about the heat level of regional curries before ordering.

Chernglay Kitchen — casual Thai seafood and large portions

Where: 50/77 Moo 4, off Bandon–Cherng Talay Road. Best for: a straightforward Thai dinner.

For a casual Thai meal with friends, Chernglay Kitchen serves seafood cooked to order and large sharing dishes in a simple dining room. Check the seafood price before ordering by weight.

It’s off the main road rather than by the beach. Directory opening times differ, so confirm before a lunchtime visit.

SUAY Cherngtalay — contemporary Thai cooking in a garden

Where: 177/99, Si Sunthon Road. Hours: 4–11 pm daily.

At SUAY, chef Tammasak Chootong pairs Thai flavours with modern techniques. The menu includes lemongrass lamb chops with papaya salsa and crab cakes with chilli aioli and mango chutney. There is an indoor dining room and a garden terrace, and the restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide.

It is inland on Si Sunthon Road, so arrange a ride. Book ahead for weekend dinner.

Nitan — a small Southern Thai tasting-menu restaurant

Where: 177/38, Si Sunthon Road. Dinner: Wednesday–Sunday, 7 pm; reservation required.

Nitan serves contemporary Southern Thai food through a set-menu experience rather than a broad à la carte dinner. Its 2026 Soil & Sea menu incorporates ingredients including sea grapes, local seafood, herbs and regional produce. The restaurant states that it accepts just 18 guests per night; its published tasting-menu starting price is THB 3,900++ per person, with pairings and other options priced separately.

As places are limited, reserve before planning the journey.

SōL Phuket — a relaxed meal from a Michelin-starred chef

Where: 248 Bandon–Cherng Talay Road, near Boat Avenue. Best for: an informal lunch or dinner.

SōL is chef Pongcharn “Top” Russell’s Phuket project. Rather than a formal tasting-menu room, it offers all-day dining with Thai dishes, Western comfort food and a bar. That makes it easier for a group to share a meal without committing to a multi-course tasting menu.

It is an informal inland restaurant, not the tasting-menu experience at Chef Top’s Michelin-starred Mia in Bangkok.

ETNA — lakefront dining with a children’s playroom

Where: beside the lake at Boat Avenue. Hours: 9 am–midnight daily.

For dinner with children, ETNA has a separate playroom with a slide and ball pit, plus an eight-dish children’s menu priced at THB 200–390 on the restaurant’s site. Adults get wood-fired and international dishes, a lake-facing terrace and a long wine list. Main courses are published at THB 550–2,600, placing ETNA in the comfortable family-dining bracket.

For groups of 10 or more, ETNA requires pre-ordering and a THB 2,000 per-person deposit. Ask for a table near the playroom if you need to watch the children.

Kalido — a beachfront dinner at the southern end of Bang Tao

Where: Soi Had Surin 8, southern Bang Tao. Hours: 5:30 pm–midnight; last food orders around 10:30 pm.

Choose Kalido for dinner by the sea without reserving a beach-club daybed. Its focus is contemporary Mediterranean cooking and an oceanfront evening setting. The venue is part of the Twinpalms dining portfolio and is also used for private events.

It was formerly called Palm Seaside, so older maps may use that name. The pricing is upscale and events may affect availability.

Bang Tao beach clubs: what the daybeds really cost

At Bang Tao beach clubs, a daybed payment is not always a fully refundable dining credit. Some venues apply the full amount to food and drinks; others allow only part of it. A restaurant table may not require a day pass.

The figures below are the venues’ published terms as checked in October 2026. Event days and later seasonal rates may differ.

XANA Beach Club — the clearest lower-cost daybed option

Where: Angsana Laguna Phuket, on Bang Tao Beach.

The official site allows dining and bar seating with a food or drink order—no daybed payment required. The single beach-lounger package includes pool access and a partial food credit; sofas and cabanas cost more.

Choose XANA if you want a pool-and-beach afternoon in Laguna, or if you only want sunset drinks without paying for an entire daybed. The style is closer to a resort beach club than a dedicated party destination every day.

Pool access with a booked daybed runs 10 am–6 pm.

Catch Beach Club — for a full day of food, music and seafront seating

Where: Bang Tao beachfront. Hours: from 7:30 am; day passes 11 am–6 pm.

Catch has a pool, restaurant, DJ area and beach loungers. In the listed daybed categories, the entire payment becomes food-and-drink credit; the better the position, the higher the minimum spend. Its first-row single sunbed is also listed separately at THB 4,000.

If you plan to spend several hours there over lunch and drinks, the full credit can go toward that bill. If you only want one drink at sunset, a normal bar or restaurant seat is a more sensible request than a prepaid cabana.

When reserving, specify the beach, pool or DJ area; the atmosphere differs across the property.

Carpe Diem — check the date before choosing a bed

Where: 99/1 Bangtao Beach Road. Hours: 11 am–midnight daily.

Carpe Diem combines Mediterranean-style restaurant dining, beach loungers and a pool-deck scene. The most important detail is its published 1 November 2026 price change.

For the pool-deck bed, a two-person booking rises from THB 4,000 to THB 12,000 on 1 November. Half of that payment is usable as food-and-drink credit. The new-season bed reservation requires non-refundable prepayment.

A main restaurant table has no deposit. A seafront dining table costs THB 1,000 per person through October, or THB 2,000 from November, all usable on food and drinks.

Minimum ages differ: 12+ in the restaurant, 15+ around beach-club beds and pool. Bed bookings require payment for at least two guests.

RAVA Beach Club — three zones with different booking packages

Where: Laguna beachfront, operated by Banyan Tree Phuket.

RAVA extends across 150 metres of beachfront. Young & Fun combines three pools with music and loungers; Master Grill concentrates on flame-grilled dining. Prestige is restricted to Laguna Residence owners and eligible club members.

Day passes include full food-and-drink credit in the listed packages, but bed and cabana prices depend on the selected zone and date. Check the booking screen rather than assuming the premium areas are included.

Sunset drinks and dinner around Layan

360° Bar, The Pavilions — hillside views above Layan

Where: The Pavilions Phuket, Layan hills. Hours: from 5 pm daily.

360° Bar sits above Layan, with views towards the Andaman Sea, cocktails and small plates. Go near sunset on a clear evening for the view. The resort advertises a selected-drinks happy hour from 7:30–8:30 pm.

The bar is high within the resort; expect buggy transport from reception and reserve before going.

Beach House Layan, Anantara — beachfront meal or rooftop bar

Where: Anantara Layan Phuket Resort. Rooftop bar: from 5:30 pm.

Beach House Layan has distinct options for lunch, dinner and rooftop cocktails. The rooftop is the reason to choose it for an evening with a sea view, while the restaurant is suited to a full meal inside a resort setting. According to Anantara, lunch runs noon–4 pm and dinner from 6 pm, with the rooftop bar open from 5:30 pm.

It is inside Anantara Layan Resort, away from the Boat Avenue dining strip. Confirm that outside guests can book the rooftop for your chosen evening.

A cheaper evening out: Fun Friday Avenue Market

For an informal Friday meal, try Fun Friday Avenue Market at Boat Avenue. Its food stalls typically run on Friday from about 4 to 9 pm. Expect grilled meats, noodles, seafood, drinks and small portions that make it easy to sample more than one dish. It is also a good evening for people staying around Laguna who want somewhere to walk, browse and eat without making a formal reservation.

It runs on Fridays only; arrive around 5–6 pm rather than relying on the last stalls remaining open.

What changed on Bang Tao Beach in 2026?

Beachfront enforcement in 2026 closed several familiar businesses, including Maya Beach Club, Nomad Beach Club, Beach Pig and Yuuhi, according to an on-site report dated 9 July. Their reopening status remains uncertain. Catch, Carpe Diem, XANA and RAVA were operating in the sources checked for this guide. Always check the venue’s own booking page before setting out.

Getting to restaurants from Bang Tao, Laguna and Layan

Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket work as one walkable dining area. Reaching beachfront clubs, Si Sunthon Road or Layan often requires a ride. Resort shuttles vary by property; see my Getting Around Phuket guide if you’re deciding between taxis and driving. A rental car makes more sense for exploring several parts of Phuket than for a single dinner.
