Laguna Phuket Hotels Compared: Which Resort Should You Book?

The six Laguna Phuket hotels sit beside the same stretch of Bang Tao Beach, yet they shape very different days. At SAii, a family can move between the sea, three pools and a 55-metre waterslide. At Cassia, breakfast can happen in your own kitchen before the boat ride to the beach. At Banyan Tree, the private pool is part of the villa, so a swim can be the plan rather than a trip to a shared pool. The right choice depends on which version of the holiday you want to come home to—not simply the star rating.

The six hotels are confirmed on the official Laguna Phuket hotel list. Laguna is also a residential development: a privately rented condominium in the complex is not automatically entitled to the same hotel benefits. Use the map below to compare where the properties sit across the resort before choosing a room.
1. SAii Laguna Phuket — for families who want the beach and plenty to do
SAii is directly on Bang Tao Beach and has three different swimming-pool areas: a main pool with a 55-metre waterslide, a children’s pool and a quieter tranquillity pool. Its junior club caters to children aged 4–12; younger children require an accompanying adult. Tennis and other sporting activities give families reasons to stay on the property between beach sessions.
The room decision is more important than the hotel label. A standard Ocean View Balcony room is 43 sq m; an Ocean Front Balcony has a more direct view towards the sea. The 43-sq-m Beach Access category has a private terrace opening towards the beach. For a different experience, a 54-sq-m Club Ocean View room adds access to The Club lounge, including its designated breakfast, afternoon tea and evening refreshments. A 152-sq-m Two Bedroom Lagoon View Villa has two bedrooms and a kitchen; it is not a private-pool villa.
Picture a morning swim, a beach break and another round on the slide without leaving the resort. SAii suits families who want that choice of activity close at hand. Before booking, confirm whether the category guarantees a sea view or actual beach access, what The Club rate includes, and whether organised activities cost extra. 2. Angsana Laguna Phuket — for a vast pool and all-day activities

Angsana’s signature is its 323-metre free-form shared pool, including a winding lazy-river-style section. The hotel sits between lagoon and beachfront and offers a kids’ club, lagoon activities and a varied dining programme. XANA occupies part of its beachfront, although beach-club packages and hotel entitlements should never be assumed to be identical.
The 40-sq-m Laguna PoolAccess Room connects from its terrace to the shared resort pool. It does not have a private pool. For quicker beach access, compare the Laguna Beachside Room (40 sq m) or the Laguna Premier Beachside Room (45 sq m). For four guests, the Two Bedroom Beachside Pool Suite is a different tier altogether: 214 sq m and its own pool. In other words, the same hotel offers a choice between direct shared-pool access, a beachside room and a genuine private-pool suite.
Angsana works best when the pool itself is part of the day’s entertainment: children can spend time in the long shared pool, while adults choose between lagoon-side and beachside areas. Check the exact wing, whether the pool beside your room is shared or private, and which facilities are operating on your dates. A beachfront address does not mean every room is close to the sand.

3. Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket — for a classic beachfront holiday
Dusit Thani puts the beach at the centre of the holiday. Its Thai-inspired gardens, restaurants and sea-facing rooms make more sense for couples or families who want to walk to the shoreline every morning than for travellers seeking an enormous water-play complex.
A Deluxe Room is 32 sq m and can face the garden, lagoon or sea. A Premier Ocean Front Room, also 32 sq m, is described as newly refurbished and looks towards the Andaman Sea. The Dusit Club Room is a larger 36-sq-m option with specific club privileges, while the 64-sq-m Landmark Suite adds separate living and dining space. If you want a private pool, the Two-Bedroom Pool Villa is a three-storey residence with an 18-sq-m rooftop pool—not a ground-level pool suitable for swimming laps.
Dusit suits travellers who imagine beginning and ending the day by the shoreline, with a more traditional resort setting around them. Confirm the room’s refurbishment status and guaranteed view, and compare the club privileges with the room rate. The pool villas have stairs between sleeping, living and swimming levels, so they may be awkward for small children or guests with limited mobility.

4. Cassia Phuket — for a kitchen, living room and flexible days
Cassia is the practical choice when you want more than a hotel bedroom but still prefer a staffed property. Every listed suite and loft category includes a kitchen, separate living area and balcony. You can keep breakfast supplies in the fridge, prepare a simple lunch and avoid paying restaurant prices for every meal. The hotel is lagoon-side; guests reach its designated Bang Tao beach area by shuttle boat, advertised as a five-minute crossing.
A One Bedroom Suite or Loft is about 40–52 sq m, with a sleeping capacity of two according to the official room guide. The Two Bedroom Suite or Loft is 62 sq m and officially shows a three-person configuration (double bed plus single). Some booking listings may allow extra occupancy under their own terms; check the permitted adults, children’s ages and beds for the actual rate. The loft’s extra hangout area is not necessarily a second closed bedroom.
Cassia also permits pets subject to rules and charges. Housekeeping on its Booking.com listing is described as every two days, a notable difference from Homm’s daily cleaning.
Cassia is an appealing fit when you want a little domestic flexibility on holiday: breakfast from the fridge, a separate place to relax, then a boat ride to the beach. Check boat times, the permitted occupancy for your rate, cleaning frequency and pet fees. The designated beach area does not mean the suite opens onto the sand.

5. Homm Suites Laguna — for larger suites with hotel housekeeping
Homm Suites is the quieter, more residential-feeling alternative among the six. Its one-bedroom suites are approximately 78 sq m and two-bedroom suites 113 sq m, with separate living/dining space and kitchen facilities. It has a swimming pool, fitness room and kids’ club, but it does not offer the scale of pool attractions at SAii or Angsana.
This is also where service becomes a useful distinction: Homm advertises daily housekeeping, rather than Cassia’s every-two-days schedule on Booking.com. The hotel says Bang Tao Beach is 10–15 minutes on foot or about five minutes by shuttle, and its own complimentary area shuttle operates from 06:00 to 23:00. That is helpful for shopping and beach trips without needing a rental car every day.
Homm works for a longer stay when separate living space and daily housekeeping matter, but you still want hotel services. Confirm the suite layout, kitchen inventory and shuttle frequency; walking to the beach in the heat may not suit everyone. This is an inland base, not a beachfront hotel.

6. Banyan Tree Phuket — for a real private-pool villa
Banyan Tree is the outlier in this comparison: all 217 villas have private pools. You are booking a villa holiday with a resort’s restaurants, spa and services behind it, rather than a normal hotel room with access to a communal pool.
The category changes the experience. A Serenity Pool Villa is 140 sq m overall, with a 17-sq-m private pool and jet-pool feature—ideal for cooling off, but not a full-size lap pool. The Signature Pool Villa expands to 270 sq m with a 32-sq-m swimming pool. Families can compare the 350-sq-m Signature Two-Bedroom Pool Villa. The flagship DoublePool categories offer still larger grounds and swimming areas.
Banyan Tree makes sense when the villa is meant to be part of the experience: a private swim, time in the gardens, then a spa or restaurant visit. Match the pool size and bedroom count to your plans, and check dining inclusions and beach transport. The setting is lagoons and gardens rather than a conventional room-to-sand beachfront stay.

How do Laguna’s shuttle boats and buses work?
Laguna Phuket provides internal transport connecting the hotels and various resort facilities. Its current official schedule lists on-call shuttle buses from 06:00 to midnight and shuttle boats about every 20 minutes from 09:00 to midnight. Routes and stops may change, and a hotel’s own beach transfer can differ from the Laguna-wide service.
The important limitation is access: staying at one hotel does not automatically entitle you to free use of every neighbouring hotel’s pool, kids’ club, beach-club daybed or spa. Laguna describes resort access as subject to each hotel’s regulations. Ask the hotel directly about the specific activity you hope to use, rather than assuming every amenity is interchangeable.

Compare the total price for the exact room, not the hotel’s lowest advertised rate. In particular:
- Beach access: a beachfront property can still place your room in a distant wing; Cassia and Homm need a boat or shuttle/short walk.
- Room occupancy: a “two-bedroom suite” may have fewer permitted guests than you expect. Enter children’s ages and check beds and extra-person charges.
- Swimming: SAii’s waterslide, Angsana’s 323-metre shared pool and Banyan Tree’s private villa pools are different experiences.
- Included services: breakfast, club lounge, kids’ programmes, sports, cleaning and transfers vary by category or booking plan.
- Cancellation and extras: check taxes, service charges, child meals, spa/golf fees and pet conditions before paying.
