Landmark 81 tower above Vincom Center and Vinhomes Central Park in Ho Chi Minh City

Landmark 81 and Vinhomes Central Park: A Visitor Guide

Landmark 81 gives you a different view of Ho Chi Minh City: apartment towers above a riverside park, an air-conditioned mall below, and an observation deck high over the Saigon River. The surrounding Vinhomes Central Park neighbourhood makes the trip worthwhile even if you decide against buying a SkyView ticket.

Come for a late-afternoon walk and stay as the tower lights up. Allow longer if you want the observation deck, dinner or skating; squeezing everything into a quick photo stop misses much of what makes this part of Saigon interesting.

Landmark 81: what you are actually visiting

The 81-storey tower, completed in 2018, rises roughly 461 metres above the city. Its stepped outline resembles a cluster of bamboo stems. It stands in Vinhomes Central Park, in the area still widely described as Binh Thanh, beside the Saigon River. Updated addresses may use Thanh My Tay Ward.

The name covers several different experiences. Vincom Center occupies the base; SkyView is the paid observation attraction on floors 79–81; Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection is the hotel within the tower. The neighbouring residential buildings and riverside grounds belong to the wider Vinhomes development.

Vinhomes Central Park: the river-level view

Start outdoors while there is still daylight. The lawns, palms and paths soften the wall of apartment blocks, and the river gives the neighbourhood room to breathe. Look back towards the tower as you walk: the changing angles are often more interesting than standing directly beneath it.

The Japanese-inspired garden, with its pond and red bridge, offers another contrast with the towers. Along the river, Saigon Bridge and passing boats draw your attention away from the skyline. After dark, apartment windows and the tower lighting change the scene again.

This is a residential development as well as a visitor destination. Follow signs and security instructions at the entrances. Do not assume that walking access includes residents’ pools, sports courts, barbecue areas or private gardens. Check current access arrangements rather than planning around a guaranteed public opening time.

Landmark 81 SkyView: is the ticket worth it?

SkyView makes most sense if you enjoy city geography: the curve of the river, the bridges and the scale of the neighbourhoods become much easier to understand from above. The observation attraction occupies floors 79–81, with views from close to 400 metres. That is different from the tower’s full architectural height.

For daylight, sunset and city lights in one visit, aim to enter before sunset and leave time for ticket checks and the lift queue. Check the sunset time for your date rather than treating 5 pm as a fixed rule. On a hazy or rainy afternoon, the distant skyline may disappear; a higher floor cannot fix poor visibility.

Ticket packages can differ. Check whether your selection includes only admission or also drinks, photographs or VR activities, and read the child admission conditions. SkyView has its own operating hours and last-entry rules, separate from the mall. A hotel or restaurant booking does not automatically include it.

Use the booking page to check the current price and conditions for your date: check Landmark 81 SkyView tickets on Trip.com.

Vincom Center: a useful break between the park and the view

The mall runs from basement B1 to level 5, rather than just the first three floors. It is useful for a meal, a cold drink or shelter while a shower passes. The ice rink and CGV cinema are separate paid activities; choose one if you are planning a longer family visit.

Vincom currently lists mall hours of 10 am–10 pm on weekdays and 9:30 am–10 pm at weekends. These are mall hours, not a promise that every attraction or restaurant operates for the same period. Check the individual venue if skating, a film or a particular dinner reservation is the main reason for your trip.

For a coffee stop, it helps to know what you are ordering. My Vietnamese coffee guide explains the difference between the familiar iced milk coffee and other local styles.

The hotel: skyline stay or dinner with a view?

Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection offers a different way to spend time in the tower. Its infinity pool is on the 47th floor, well below SkyView. A room, a meal and an observation-deck visit are separate purchases with different access conditions.

If you are considering a stay, check the actual room view and category, breakfast, cancellation terms and pool access. An apartment advertised as being “at Landmark 81” may be in a neighbouring residential tower, with a different entrance and facilities. Confirm the building and host check-in arrangements before paying.

For a short first visit to Saigon, weigh the greener setting against repeated journeys to the central sights. If a pool is the main attraction, compare the alternatives in my Ho Chi Minh City hotels with rooftop pools article.

To check accommodation prices, search Ho Chi Minh City hotels on Trip.com and enter the property name and your dates. This opens a general hotel search, so check that the result is the hotel you want, rather than a nearby apartment.

How to get to Landmark 81

For a taxi or ride-hailing trip, use Landmark 81 or Vincom Center Landmark 81 as the destination. Choose the correct entrance for your booking: the mall, hotel and residential towers are not interchangeable drop-off points. Traffic can change the journey considerably, so leave a buffer before a timed ticket.

Metro Line 1 has been operating since 22 December 2024. Tan Cang station is an option for reaching this area from the central part of the line. Check the onward walking route to your chosen entrance on a map; the station is not a lift directly into the observation deck. In heat or heavy rain, a short local ride may be more comfortable.

A rental car is rarely necessary for this single city outing. If Landmark 81 is part of a wider road itinerary, compare car rental options in Vietnam on Localrent and check licence requirements, pickup arrangements and parking before booking.

A relaxed evening around the tower

Begin before sunset. Walk towards the river first, while you can see the park and bridge clearly. If SkyView is your priority, work backwards from your entry time and keep this walk short enough to avoid rushing.

Take a break indoors. Use the mall for water, a meal or a coffee. On a clear afternoon, head to the observation attraction in time for the changing light; in poor visibility, you can keep the outing at ground level instead.

Finish with the illuminated skyline. Return to the accessible riverside paths if the gates and weather allow, or choose dinner nearby. A restaurant booking is a better plan than arriving at the hotel expecting unrestricted access to every upper floor.

For a different evening on another day, my Saigon motorbike food tour review looks at exploring the city through its street food. If you prefer learning to cook, compare the formats in cooking classes in Ho Chi Minh City.

You can also browse other Ho Chi Minh City activities below. Check each listing’s meeting point and schedule; these are separate city experiences, not inclusions in a SkyView ticket.

Planning your arrival in Ho Chi Minh City

If this visit is part of a longer Vietnam trip, compare flights for the full route before choosing your arrival city. Check baggage and arrival times as well as the fare; leave your first evening flexible if you are landing after a long journey.

Who should make time for Landmark 81?

Choose this outing if you like modern architecture, skyline views or a slower evening beside the river. You can enjoy the exterior and neighbourhood without committing to an expensive night in the tower. SkyView adds the aerial perspective, but the weather should help justify that extra spend.

With only one short day in Ho Chi Minh City, give your strongest interests priority: history, food and a high-rise view need different amounts of time. Landmark 81 works especially well when you have room for a contrasting evening after exploring the older central streets. At ground level, it is still a lived-in neighbourhood; above it, the river makes the scale of Saigon visible.
