Public transport in Cappadocia exists, but it is best understood as town-to-town transport rather than a complete sightseeing network.

That distinction matters.

A dolmuş works very well when your plan is:

Göreme → Avanos

It works much less well when the plan is:

Göreme → Paşabağ → Zelve → Çavuşin → Avanos → sunset viewpoint

My Experience Using the Dolmuş

I used the local dolmuş myself during my June 2026 Cappadocia trip.

One particularly simple journey was Çavuşin to Avanos. It took roughly eight minutes and cost 75 TRY at the time of my visit.

During the same trip, direct minibuses on the Göreme–Avanos route ran hourly via Çavuşin, and the Göreme–Avanos fare was 90 TRY one way.

While these specific fares will inevitably change, they highlight the main advantage of the dolmuş: it remains an incredibly cheap and straightforward option for simple point-to-point journeys.

The useful lesson is more durable:

Balloon operators normally organise early hotel pickup and return.

During my own flight, I was collected from my Göreme hotel at 03:45 and returned at around 07:00.
